Mutations are how you turn a normal harvest into millions of Sheckles in Grow a Garden 2. Each mutation is a visual transformation that multiplies a crop's sell price — and a single crop can only hold one mutation at a time, so you always want the highest-value one you can get.
Here's every current mutation, its exact multiplier, and how to trigger it (data current as of June 2026).
The big earners (event mutations)
Electric (70x) is the single most valuable standard mutation. It only appears during a Lightning event, so when one is live, drop everything and harvest — electrified crops sell for 70× their base price.
Starstruck (45x) comes from the rare Starfall event, and Frozen (40x) from Snowfall. Event mutations are time-limited, which is exactly why active play during events is the fastest way to bankroll an expensive pet like the 20M-Sheckle Ice Serpent.
The reliable earners (always available)
Rainbow (40x) is the best mutation you can farm without waiting for an event — trigger it during Rainbow weather or by planting a Rainbow Seed. A Unicorn pet doubles your Rainbow odds.
Gold (15x) is your everyday multiplier. Plant a Gold Seed, or run a Golden Dragonfly pet to double the chance any plant or fruit turns Gold. It's the lowest multiplier here, but it's the easiest to produce at scale.
How to maximize mutation income
- •Pair pets with mutations. Golden Dragonfly (2x Gold) and Unicorn (2x Rainbow) are the two best money pets because they directly raise your mutation rate. See the pet tier list.
- •Stockpile event seeds. Mutated seeds gathered during events have a higher chance of producing mutated fruit.
- •Always be harvesting during events — Electric/Starstruck/Frozen windows are short.
- •Defend your garden. A 70x electrified crop is a juicy target for night raiders — a Black Dragon keeps it safe.
