There is no button in Murder Mystery 2 that hands you a godly. There are four routes that cost nothing but time - and an entire industry built on people hoping for a fifth. This guide separates them: what genuinely works, roughly what each one costs you in hours, and how to spot the bait before it costs you the knife you already own.
The honest version of free
Every item you own in MM2 is a record on Roblox's servers. Nothing outside the game can add to that record, which is why the legitimate free routes all run through the game or through another player - and why all of them are paid for in hours.
It is worth being blunt about the exchange rate. Depending on the route and on what is running when you read this, "free" means somewhere between one focused evening and several weeks of casual play. That is a good deal for a lot of people - it is just not the deal being advertised by anything promising a godly in ninety seconds.
1. Seasonal events (the best free godlys, on a schedule)
Halloween and Christmas each bring a shop stocked with godly-tier weapons priced in an event currency you earn by playing rounds - no Robux, no trading, no luck. Hour for hour, an active event is the most generous free route the game has.
Two things shape how you should treat it. The first is that the window shuts: once an event ends, its items stop entering the game permanently. The Summer Event 2026 closed on 23 August 2026, and everything it introduced is now trade-only. The second follows from the first: because supply freezes, event items often appreciate afterwards - a weapon you earned free during an event can be worth more a year later than items you would otherwise have paid for.
So: if an event is live while you are reading this, grind it before anything else on this page. Bank the currency, spend it before the shop closes, and pick the item you would still be happy holding in a year. If no event is running, the next one is a question of when, not if.
2. Crafting and salvaging (slow, guaranteed)
Duplicate weapons can be salvaged into crafting materials, and materials feed recipes with fixed outputs - including at godly tier. That fixed output is the entire appeal. It is the one free route where you decide in advance which item you end up with, instead of hoping a box cooperates.
What it costs is volume. Filling a godly recipe means salvaging a long stream of duplicates; duplicates come from boxes; boxes come from coins you earn round by round. Budget weeks of casual play rather than a weekend. One marketplace guide walks readers through this exact path toward a Seer.
Two habits make it noticeably faster. Salvage anything you are never realistically going to trade, rather than letting duplicates pile up unused. And point the recipe at a godly other traders actually want, so the item you finish with is liquid rather than something you are stuck holding.
3. Giveaways: how to tell a real one from bait
Real giveaways exist - creators run them, trading communities run them, and we run them. The difference between a real one and bait is purely mechanical, and you can check it in five seconds.
Entering a real giveaway costs you nothing. You react to a message, or you post in a thread, and then you wait for a draw. That is the whole interaction. The moment entering requires you to send an item first, hand over a login, install something, or complete "verification" somewhere else, you are not looking at a giveaway - you are looking at one of four different scams borrowing the word.

4. Trading up from free drops
Whatever the game gives you for free - commons from playing, whatever a box happens to drop, leftovers from an event - is trading stock. The ladder is the oldest free route in MM2: swap duplicates upward tier by tier until a bundle of legendaries buys someone's low-tier godly. It works, and it is how a lot of long-standing inventories were actually built.
It is also dozens of separate trades, and each one is a place to lose everything you have climbed. Two rules keep the ladder honest. Aim the ladder at a godly people recognise - a mid-value, high-demand weapon trades onward easily; an obscure one leaves you holding something nobody bids on.
5. Free godly games, reward sites and generators
Search the phrase and the results split into four groups, none of which is the game itself.
Roblox experiences with "free godly" in the title. Whatever you are handed inside one of those places stays inside it - MM2's inventory belongs to MM2, and a separate experience cannot write to it. At best they are simulators; at worst, funnels toward an off-platform link.
Drop and claim sites. Pages offering a free item in exchange for a username, a survey, an app install or "human verification". The verification is not a step before the reward - it is the product, and it never completes.
Trading platforms wearing giveaway clothes. Some results are genuine item-for-item swap services rather than free-stuff pages. bloxswaps.com, for instance, presents itself as a trading platform with a bot and its own in-site currency, verifies who you are through the about section of your Roblox profile, and states plainly that it never asks for your Roblox password. That is a trade, not a gift, but the password rule is exactly the right one and it doubles as the test to apply to every site in this category.
Generators. These do not exist, for any item, in any game. Because ownership is recorded on Roblox's servers, a "godly generator" is always a scam - normally a phishing page, sometimes just ad revenue with nothing behind it. The tell is in the marketing itself: "no verification", "no human verification" and "no survey" are phrases written exclusively by people running a survey.
Codes: coins, not godlys
MM2 does release redeemable codes, and they are worth entering. What they pay out is coins, and historically that is the only thing they have ever paid out. Coins buy weapon boxes, boxes are a random draw, and MM2 has never published its drop rates - so anyone quoting you a confident percentage is quoting themselves, not the game. One marketplace guide quotes 0.2% for a specific godly in a summer event box; that is that publisher's figure, not a stat from Roblox.
Which makes a code a small coin top-up, several steps removed from a godly weapon. Any page selling you a "godly code" is using the word to get a click.
The scam list
The free-godly search is the most heavily targeted query in MM2, so here is the short field guide. Every entry shares one tell: you are asked to move first.
- •The trust trade. "Send something small so I know you're not a bot and I'll send the godly back." Whatever you hand over is the entire transaction. The second trade never opens.
- •The split trade. MM2 caps a trade at four items per side, so genuinely large deals really are split across several trades - which is precisely what makes this one work. Accept the first half on a promise and you have no leverage left. Stay even or ahead after every individual trade, not at the end of the sequence.
- •The last-second swap. The offer changes in the final moment before confirmation, usually a chroma quietly downgraded to its ordinary twin. Read the confirmation screen every time, including on deals you have already talked through in chat.
- •The middleman who isn't. MM2 has no official middleman system. Someone volunteering to hold both sides of a deal is simply holding both sides.
- •Off-platform payment. A DM offering a suspiciously cheap godly for PayPal Friends & Family or a gift card. F&F strips out buyer protection, which is the reason it was requested in the first place.
- •Generators and "no verification" pages. Worth listing twice, because it is the scam most tightly attached to this exact search. Nothing outside Roblox can grant a Roblox item.
